What Obstacle Do I Have Stopping Me From Achieving My Goal?
Understand this, a goal without an obstacle is just an event. If there was nothing stopping you from achieving your goal, then you wouldn’t need to be going through this process, you would be getting it right now wouldn’t you? You would probably have already achieved it by now, maybe years ago. Although you really want to achieve it & you are going through this process, you aren’t able to just get it right now & you don’t already have it. So there must be a reason for why you haven’t achieved it. There must be somethign in your way.
So ask yourself, ‘why have I not achieved my goal already’? Your goal is most likely to be something that you’ve wanted for a long time, if not your whole life. It’s also probably something that plenty of other people in life have achieved before you, seemingly without any effort at all. Then why haven’t you achieved your goal yet? What is it that keeps getting in your way every time you & stopping you from doing what you know you need to do? Or maybe it’s something that’s stopped you from even attempting it in the first place.
Have you been using this obstacle as an excuse your whole life? “I can’t lose weight because of my injury” or “I can’t exercise because I don’t have time”. The best way to determine if your excuse is a real excuse or not is to ask ‘Has there ever been anyone anywhere in the world in all of history that has my exact same excuse for not achieving this goal, but has gone on & achieved it anyway’? Think of all of the people with extreme physical difficulties, such as para &/or quadriplegics that run, swim or create artistic masterpieces. Beethoven was deaf remember. If they can do it, then you can too…if you believe you can & really try!
It’s also going to be something internal as well! Something that scares you when you think about having to do whatever it is. The more it scares you by the way, the more likely you’ve probably identified what your obstacle is. Doesn’t it make sense, if it doesn’t scare you then you would have done it already, wouldn’t you? Is it a lack of knowledge or skills that you need to learn or acquire? Do you need to ask for help from someone?
By the way, you can’t blame others! Sorry. Nope, I’m not going to listen to why you aren’t where you want to be because of someone else! Remember, ‘has there ever been anyone anywhere in the world in all of history that has my exact same excuse for not achieving this goal, but has gone on & achieved it anyway’? Once we accept that we are where we are in life because of our own choices in the past (although possibly quite upsetting), we can again turn those ‘negative’ feelings into positives & understand that we are then in control of our own future. That’s so powerful it’s worth saying again, ‘understand that we are then in control of our own future‘.
Whatever it is, you must be able to identify what it is that is in your way. Otherwise you will never be able to remove it. The answer to this question is almost definitely going to be something that you don’t want to do. That’s why you haven’t achieved your goal before, because you’ve been avoiding this the whole time. However, you have to ask yourself “is the feeling of happiness, once I achieve my goal, going to be greater than the feeling of un-comfort in doing this”? If the answer is ‘yes’, then do it.
Again, this may not be an easy question to answer, however once you do, knowing what you need to do to remove it seems so easy to understand. Probably not easy to physically do, but certainly easy to know what to do!
The good news is though; the greater the obstacle…the greater the reward!
